Aberdalgie

Aberdalgie is the earliest seat known of the Lords Oliphant in the highlands.

Aberdalgy churchyard contains the family vault, now registered as the Chief’s Lair (own final resting place.) However, the church, which was rebuilt back away from the edge of the hill the original was on, no longer contains it as it used to. The cover for this vault is a relief carving of the finest Belgian marble, depicting Sir William Oliphant who defended Stirling Castle. However, this may not be the whole story. To be continued.
